Food Plant: Populus tremula (Aspen) Mine: early Summer (May-July) Notes: An uncommon miner. Makes large reddish-brown mines, which can occupy the leaf . Frass is ejected from the mine by the larva. The larva head is shown in dorsal and ventral view above. Note the pale markings and the typical (Heterarthrus species) prosternal plate. There are two further pale sternal spots.
