Food Plant: Populus tremula (Aspen) Mine: early Summer (May-July) Notes: An uncommon miner. Makes large reddish-brown mines, which can occupy the leaf. Frass is ejected from the mine by the larva. The larva is shown in dorsal and ventral view. The characteristic (of Heterathrus species) prosternal marking can be seen, along with a further two ventral spots.
