Food Plant: Populus tremula (Aspen) Mine: early Summer (May-July) Notes: An uncommon miner. Makes large reddish-brown mines, which can occupy the leaf . Frass is ejected from the mine by the larva.The larva forms a disc structure (which is typical for the Heterarthrus species) in which it overwinters. The adult is shown and was bred from this mine.
