Food Plant: Populus species eg P.tremula (Aspen), P.nigra (Black Poplar) Mine: Bivoltine: early summer and early autumn Pupa: Outside the mine Notes: A long winding lower surface gallery. The mine of A.populi is similar, but the pupation is in the mine in this species. A.populi mines are partly, sometimes fully, upperside, whereas A.tremulae mines are lower surface. This was thought to be the case but Warrington (2024) bred A.tremulae adults from upper surface mines in Populus x canescens). Mine shown on Aspen Agromyzidae Recording Scheme Grade: 2 Data: 28.xi.2003, Fleet, Hants, VC12 Image:© Rob Edmunds References: |
