Food Plant: Populus canescens (Grey Poplar) Egg: Laid on the petiole, about 15 -20 mm from the leaf blade (as shown) Note the gallery leading left, from the egg, towards the leaf blade. Mine: July - October Notes: A gall in petiole, later mine in leaf-blade, in “green island”. An egg may be laid either side of the petiole and two mines subsequently develop - this leads to two green islands (these may not be so conspicuous).
