Food Plant: Festuca filiformis (Fine-leaved Sheep Fescue), F. ovina (Sheep's Fescue), F.rubra (Red Fescue), Egg: laid near the tip of the leaf Mine: April-June Notes: Initially mines downwards from the leaf tip in a narrow mine 5-7cm long. It then changes leaves and usually mines upwards. The fresh mine is a yellowish grey colour but changing to whitish as it ages. A widespread species found in grassland and meadows especially on hillsides and coastal cliffs. Data: Image:© |
