Food Plant: Luzula sylvatica (Great wood-rush)

Mine: September - June

Notes: The mine formed is long, inflated and puckers the leaf surface. The larva often swaps leaves.Occurs in South West England, from Monmouthshire in Wales and the East of Scotland. Mines found on Luzula pilosa will probably be E.tengstromi. The same mine on Luzula sylvatica photographed after collection on 27.xii.2022, and then a few days later on 08.i.2023, during which time the larva has started to feed in a blotch that has distorted the leaf edge, it will continue to extend this blotch to take up the full width of the leaf.

Data: Mine collected 27.xii.2022, Clatworthy Reservoir, South Somerset, VC5
