Food Plant: Luzula sylvatica (Great wood-rush)

Notes: The mine formed is long, inflated and puckers the leaf surface. The larva often swaps leaves.Occurs in South West England, from Monmouthshire in Wales and the East of Scotland. Mines found on Luzula pilosa will probably be E.tengstromi. A young mine on Luzula sylvatica in the field in mid-winter. This larva is still in the initial phase, feeding in a thin, brownish gallery between the veins that is just beginning to broaden.
