Notes: Initially feeds on the seeds until the autumn. It then enters the stem, usually in the upper part, to hibernate and can congregate gregariously, with up to 20 larvae being found in a stem. Two larval entry holes are shown (with the top hole covered in silk) in a stem of Conium maculatum (Hemlock).
