Food Plant: Arctium sp. (Burdock)

Mine: Summer

Notes: Forms a large, almost transparent, blotch mine, which may contain several larvae, on the leaf upper surface. The frass is initailly deposited in a black heap at the start of the mine and later becomes centrally placed as the mine develops. The gallery edges are irregular. The white eggs are laid close to a vein. Mostly found in the Southern Counties of England. Pupation is outside the mine.
