Notes: Lives as a stem borer with adults emerging from puparia in the late spring onwards. The puparium has posterior spiracles on two adjoining plates with strong central horns surrounded by pale pores (this distinguishes it form M.dettmeri where the surrounding pores are dark). Puparium shown in Jacobaea vulgaris (Common Ragwort).
