Food Plant: Pteridium aquilinum (Bracken)

Notes: A univoltine late season species forming upperside blotches at the tip of a pinna lobe, in the shade, on Bracken which look very similar to those of C.histricina, on the same host. Adults must be reared to identify. The length of pupation is two years. Robbins (1990) mentions mines of C.histricina in September, which may be a misidentification as they will be C.flavipennis. Larva shown in the mine.
