black or brown blotches are formed on the leaf

Food Plant: Populus sp. (Poplar) and Salix sp. (Willow)

Egg: on the leaves

Mine: summer

Notes: It makes a characteristic, middle-brown, oviposition mark, like leather, mostly near the margin of the blotch. The emerging larvae bore into the leaf epidermis making irregular blotches, which turn brown as they age. The larvae need to be bred to determine their identity.
