79 Stigmella perpygmaeella (Haworth, 1828)
< back
note the short broad initial gallery

Food Plant: Crataegus (Hawthorn)

Egg:  Usually upper side of leaf

Mine: July, October

Notes: The first half of the mine is filled with brown frass and the early gallery is broad. The frass is later coiled and the larva is yellow. S.crataegella has a thinner initial gallery (and the larva is green). Mines starting in the petiole are harder to name without seeing the larva

Data: 30.ix.2002, Haarlem, The Netherlands
