Food Plant: Betula pendula (Birch) Egg: Laid on a leaf Mine: June-July, September-October Notes: The initial tiny mine (as shown) was identified as S.caesiella by Chris Snyers in 2012. The larva then feeds mostly on the upper surface of the leaf, under a slight web. The young larva is green but it changes colour as it matures. The final instar larva is darker green dorsally with yellow-green blocks on its side and subdorsally.
