Food Plant: Eriophorum angustifolium (Common cotton grass)

Notes: After hibernating in a long reddish narrow mine the larva makes a new mine in the spring, which starts from the leaf base. The mine is yellowish with black frass. Dense silken cocoon spun by larva on blade of Cotton Grass. Adult reared, emerged 14.vi.2022 and gen det by Peter Hall to confirm the ID. The first record for Somerset.
