Food Plant: Acer platanoides (Norway Maple) Egg: On leaf-stalk in summer; on samara in spring Mine: June, September - May Notes: In June mines the wing of a samara, mining into the seed with a short gallery. The cocoon is formed on the samara, which often falls to the ground. The second generation mine the petiole initially then the flower bud and forms a cocoon on this. Both generations may form cocoons on the tree trunk. The cocoons and exuviae are shown. Note the variability of colour.
