Food Plant: Betula (Birch)         

Egg: Lower surface of the leaf

Mine: August - October

Notes: A dark blotch mine initially, later with pale edges (as shown). There may be several mines in a leaf. The larva is pale yellowish white, with a pale brown head. Dark ventral plates are seen in second and third instar larvae. The mines shown are in Downy Birch (Betula pubescens).
