499 Coleophora limosipennella (Duponchel, 1843)
< back
early mine and cut-outs shown

Food Plant: Food Plant: Ulmus (Elm)

Mine: September to October, feeding again in June and July

Notes:  Larva mining leaves. The early mines (illustrated) are not easily seen - being close to the midrib/veins. This species can be distinguished from C.badiipennella as it has a shorter early mine and smaller cutouts. The cutouts above are between 2.6 and 3mm long. Note also the extruded frass (just above the midrib) .C. badiipennella produces a similar mine, but with no frass extruded.
