Food Plant: Rosaceous trees, esp. Malus (apple), Crataegus (hawthorn)

Mine: Two-year life-cycle. September, feeding again from April to June. After aestivation and a second winter, feeding is completed in June of the second year.

Notes: Larva mines leaves. The first case has a semi-circular anal end, and is extended  until the second spring (as shown. Note also the excised leaf by this, ised to make the foinal case). The final case is excised from a leaf in April, and is tubular, 8-11mm long and sits upright on the leaf.
