492 Coleophora flavipennella (Duponchel, 1843)
< back
the window feeding is seen
the pale dorsal patch is seen

Food Plant: Quercus spp. (Oaks)

Mine: Late September to late October, then April to late May

Notes: First case formed of silk, including a small leaf fragment, larva mining leaves(ashown in the top photo - note the case mid-left). The winter case is shown - to the naked eye it appears to have a pale patch on the anal end (as shown- bottom photo)). The winter case of C. lutipennella does not have this patch. Feeding in spring in a new case on catkins and also mining leaves. Very similar to case of C. lutipennella.
