Notes: A short contorted gallery, near midrib or side-vein (as shown). Mine shown on pear. The mines may be confused with those of Paraswammwerdammia nebulella but those of B bechsteinella usually occur in a vein axil and have an angular clear exit gallery. those of P.nebulella have a more sinuous exit gallery and do not necessarily occur in an axil. They also tend to be more numerous in a leaf and do not show window feeding, as in B.bechsteinella.
