Food Plant: Daucus carota (Wild Carrot) , Peucedanum officinale (Hog's Fennel) ,Conium maculatum (Hemlock), Crithmum maritmum (Rock samphire)

Mine: September-May

Notes: Feeds initially on the spun flowers and seeds then, in late autumn, bores into the lower part of the stem and burrows downwards through the pith. In the spring the larvae return to the top of the stem and their presence may be detected by slight frass exudations from the entrance hole. Larva hibernating in stem of Daucus carota. Identification confirmed via DNA barcoding
