Heterarthrus vagans (Fallen, 1808)
< back
the larva has short feet

Food Plant: Alnus glutinosa (Alder) and Alnus cordata (Italian Alder)

Mine: Univoltine: autumn.

Pupa: Inside mine in a disc shaped cocoon.

Notes: A large blotch that normally starts at the margin, where some or much frass is ejected. Local and uncommon. Under-recorded due to being masked by the more common Fenusa dohrnii. The larva can be seen and its short feet distinguishes it from F.dohrnii.

Data: 12.x.2004, Fleet, Hants, VC12
