Food Plant: Acer platanoides (Norway Maple)

Mine: May

Notes: Forms blotch mines on the leaf tips of very young, tender leaves. The mine has a characteristically speckled appearance due to frass deposition. The larva is pale in colour. The larvae are parasitised by Tryphoninae species, which are Ichneumon endoparasites of Symphyta. The endoparasites can be seen in the middle of the larva (top photo), towards the rear of the larva (middle photo) and dorsally in the thorax (bottom photo).
