Food Plant: Alnus glutinosa (Alder) and other Alnus (Alder) spp.

Mine: Bivoltine - early summer onwards. Trivoltine in a good year.

Notes: A large, brown upper surface blotch, initially between veins and running towards the margin.Very common. The larva has a pale brown head and three ventral thoracic spots, with ringed legs (as shown)

Pupa: Outside the mine.
