Food Plant: A broadly polyphagous pest of ornamental and vegetable crops (that has been recorded from at least 25 plant families).

Notes: Mines variable, ranging from an upper surface corridor mine to a tightly coiled, almost blotch-like mine; not infrequently a combination of both with the corridor leading to the blotch. Liriomyza trifolii is a quarantine pest species, often intercepted at UK points of entry. The species has been found under glass in England and Wales, but all populations have been and continue to be eradicated.
