Food Plant: Lathyrus sp., Lathyrus latifolius (Broad-leaved Everlasting-pea), Pisum sativum (Garden Pea), Vicia cracca (Tufted Vetch) Mine: Summer Notes: A long linear mine which starts lower surface and ends upper surface on the leaf, giving the leaf a mottled effect. Groups of larvae contribute to these mines. The frass is in thin threads and alternates along the gallery (Mines made by Scaptomyza flava can appear similar but have a different frass pattern). Pupation occurs outside the mine. The puparium is shown in dorsal, ventral and lateral view (top;middle;bottom photo). Data: 06.vii.2019, Downham Market, Norfolk, VC28 Image:© Rob Edmunds |
