Liriomyza pisivora Hering, 1957
< back

Food Plant: Lathyrus sp., Lathyrus latifolius (Broad-leaved Everlasting-pea), Pisum sativum (Garden Pea), Vicia cracca (Tufted Vetch)

Mine: Summer

Notes: A long linear mine which starts lower surface and ends upper surface on the leaf, giving the leaf a mottled effect. Groups of larvae contribute to these mines. The frass is in thin threads and alternates along the gallery (as shown) (Mines made by Scaptomyza flava can appear similar but have a different frass pattern). Pupation occurs outside the mine.
