Food Plant: Quercus (Oak), Corylus (Hazel) Mine: Univoltine: early summer. Pupa: Outside the mine in the cut out case Notes: A gallery along the edge of the leaf (as shown) leading to a circular blotch, from which a case is cut leaving a round hole. (Formerly called Rhynchaenus (Orchestes) avellanae). The larva is yellow, with a dark head. The development of the mine, on Quercus robur, is shown.
