Food Plant: Quercus (Oak) Mine: April - June Pupa: Inside or outside the leaf Notes: The mine is at the leaf margin and usually between two lobes (as shown). It has some similarities to that of Eriocrania subpurpurella, but is smaller when mature and is darker due to the frass adhering to the inner surface of the mine. The Eriocrania mine also has the typical 'spaghetti' frass. Formerly Rhyncaenus pilosus. The adult is shown, which emerged from this mine. It window feeds on the the leaf.
