Trachys minutus (Linnaeus, 1758)
< back
dorsal view of pupa

Food Plant: Corylus avellanae (Hazel)

Mine: early and late Summer

Notes: Typically makes a pear shaped upper surface blotch which is usually at the tip of the leaf. The pupa is formed within the leaf and is not in a cocoon. The pupa appears black as it matures and this is due to the colouration of the adult beetle inside the pupal case. The pupa is shown in dorsal, ventral and lateral view (top to bottom photos).
