Food Plant: Crataegus (Hawthorn), Malus (Apple), Sorbus (Whitebeam/Rowan), occasionally other Rosaceae.

Egg: Underside of leaf

Mine: August-September

Pupa: In a silken cocoon, usually on detritus

Notes: A circular or oval brownish blotch with a central spiral of dense blackish frass. The larva is pale green with a dark head. The larva leaves the mine and spins a cocoon (as shown). The larval skin is shed, in forming the pupa, and extruded outside the cocoon (shown top right).
