Food Plant: Polyphagous, on deciduous trees and shrubs. Mine: July to April. Notes: Larva mining leaves. The single case is progressively extended from the oral end. Rings of leaf-cuticle are added from the upper surface of the blotch, and project on the dorsal side of the case. The case lies prostrate against the leaf surface . The case is similar to C.potentillae, but C.violacea makes punctures through the leaf (as shown). Image:© David Manning |
